Free SUV plan view CAD block in DWG and DXF

An SUV plan view CAD block shows a large sport-utility vehicle from directly above — the top-down footprint you need for parking layouts, site plans and circulation studies. Because an SUV is bigger than a saloon, its plan footprint is the one that really tests whether your bays and aisles work. This page offers a free SUV plan block in DWG and DXF, drawn to true scale for AutoCAD 2004 or later, free for personal and commercial use with no signup or watermark.
Use the plan view to populate car parks, driveways and forecourts, to check bay sizing against a larger vehicle, and to confirm turning and reversing room in tight layouts. Drawn to scale, the footprint slots straight onto a parking grid so clearances become a glance rather than a calculation.
What the SUV plan view block is
This block is the top-down outline of a large SUV or 4x4 — the body footprint, the four wheels and usually the door-mirror line, seen as if looking straight down. It is clean line geometry, so it prints sharply and stays light however many cars you array across a parking deck.
A plan footprint is a fundamentally different drawing from an elevation: it carries length and width, which is exactly what a parking layout cares about. The SUV footprint is the larger end of the passenger-car range, so it is the block to use when you want to prove a bay layout works for big vehicles, not just compact ones.
View and what's included
The download is a plan (top) view — the SUV seen from above — which is the view for car-park layouts, site plans, driveway studies and circulation diagrams. It arrays cleanly along a bay grid and sits naturally beside other plan-view vehicles and the building footprint.
The geometry is layered so you can put the SUVs on a dedicated vehicle layer, recolour them, and freeze them to reveal the bare bay grid beneath. Keep each one as a single block reference so it copies, rotates and arrays as one object when you fill a parking deck or a forecourt.
Typical sizing to design around
Use the footprint as a scale check against your bays. A large SUV generally sits in the region of 4.6–5.1 m long and about 1.9–2.05 m wide excluding mirrors — bigger in both directions than a typical saloon, which is why it is the vehicle that stresses a tight layout.
Standard parking bays are commonly drawn around 2.4–2.5 m wide by 4.8–5.0 m long, so dropping a scaled SUV footprint onto the grid shows immediately whether a big vehicle overhangs the bay or crowds the aisle. Real SUVs vary, so scale to the envelope your layout needs rather than to a single fixed size.
How to insert the block
The DWG is full size in millimetres. In a millimetre drawing, insert at scale 1 for real size; in a metre drawing, insert at 0.001. On an imperial template, set INSUNITS to millimetres so AutoCAD rescales on insertion, or insert at 0.03937 to convert to inches.
Snap the insertion point to the centre of the footprint so it centres in a bay, then rotate to match the bay angle. Use ARRAY (rectangular for straight ranks, path for angled or curved bays) to populate a whole deck, and vary rotation slightly between cars so the layout does not look mechanically stamped.
Where SUV plan blocks are used
The SUV footprint belongs in surface and multi-storey car-park layouts, residential driveway and garage plans, retail and supermarket forecourts, and any site plan that needs to prove parking provision for larger vehicles. It is the block that answers the awkward question of whether the design copes with big cars, not just small ones.
Car-park and traffic designers use it to size bays and aisles; architects use it on residential and mixed-use site plans; students use it on layout sheets because it is licence-clear. Mix it with smaller plan-view cars and the mini-truck plan from the vehicles category so a parking study reflects a realistic spread of vehicle sizes.
Checking door swings and circulation around the SUV
A parked footprint only tells half the story; a real bay also has to allow the doors to open and a person to get out. Because the SUV plan is the widest of the passenger cars, it is the one that exposes a bay drawn too narrow. Drop two SUV footprints into adjacent bays and sketch the door-open arc between them, and any pinch in the layout shows up at once.
The footprint is equally useful for proving aisle width. Rotate a copy to mark the swept path of an SUV reversing out of a bay and into the drive aisle, and confirm it does not clip the cars opposite. Keeping the SUVs on their own layer means you can run these checks, then freeze the vehicles to hand over a clean, dimensioned bay grid.

Questions
Frequently asked
Is the SUV plan view CAD block free for commercial use?+
Yes. It downloads free in DWG and, where available, DXF, with no signup, no watermark and no attribution requirement, and it is cleared for commercial projects.
Why use an SUV footprint rather than a generic car for parking?+
An SUV is one of the larger passenger vehicles, so its footprint is the one that tests whether bays and aisles really work. Designing to the SUV proves the layout copes with big cars.
How does the footprint compare to a standard parking bay?+
A large SUV is roughly 4.6–5.1 m long and 1.9–2.05 m wide, against bays often drawn near 2.4–2.5 m by 4.8–5.0 m. Dropping the scaled footprint on the grid shows the fit at once.
What scale and units is the block drawn at?+
Full size in millimetres. Insert at scale 1 in a millimetre drawing, 0.001 in a metre drawing, or set INSUNITS to millimetres so AutoCAD rescales it on insertion.
