Description
A wash basin in a bathroom is a commonly used fixture for personal hygiene and grooming. It typically consists of a bowl-shaped basin with a smooth surface and a plumbing connection for a faucet. The faucet dispenses water for hand washing and rinsing. A drain is also typically included to remove water and waste.
Wash basins come in a variety of materials, such as ceramic, porcelain, stainless steel, or composite materials, and can be mounted in several different ways, including:
- On a pedestal, where the basin sits on top of a stand or column, hiding the pipes and drain
- On a vanity, where the basin is integrated into a cabinet or countertop
- Wall-mounted, where the basin is attached directly to the wall
Some washbasins also include additional features, such as a built-in soap dish, towel bar, or even a mirror. These features can add convenience and style to a bathroom.
