Description
A chimney is a structure that allows smoke and other combustion by-products to vent out of a building. It is typically found in homes with fireplaces or wood-burning stoves, and it can also be used to vent gases from furnaces and other heating systems. The chimney typically consists of a vertical shaft made of brick, stone, or metal that extends above the roof of the building, with a flue lining to contain and direct the combustion gases. Also called stovepipe, furnace, stack etc.
