Description
A Lamp Fixture electrical device known as a light fixture, light fitting, or luminaire produces light. It generally consists of a fixture body and one or more readily replaceable or permanently hardwired lights. A switch that may be connected to the lamp or the power cord can be used to control the lighting. There may not be a switch on certain permanent lighting fixtures, such as chandeliers, which rely on a wall switch instead. These fixtures must be attached to a power source, often an electrical outlet. However, battery power is also an option in some circumstances. While portable lights have a plug and cable that may be connected to a wall socket, permanently fixed lighting fixtures are directly wired.
