Humans, scientifically known as Homo sapiens, are the only members of the Hominina subtribe. They are distinct for their upright posture and ability to walk on two legs, exceptional manual dexterity and extensive tool use, advanced language capabilities compared to other species, and larger, more complex brains and societal structures. While early members of the hominin family, such as the australopithecines, share similarities with our non-human ape ancestors, they are not usually considered true humans. Some early hominins mastered fire and spread across Eurasia, eventually leading to anatomically modern humans in Africa around 315,000 years ago. These modern humans began to exhibit behaviours unique to our species around 50,000 years ago, and through a series of migrations, they eventually populated the entire world.
